Hyatt has announced plans to bring its Andaz hotel brand to Singapore for the first time.
The company has signed a management contract with M+S Pte Ltd to develop an Andaz hotel in the city’s Ophir-Rochor district, close to the Bugis MRT station. It will form part of the DUO development, a major new mixed-use complex that features two towers, both more than 180 metres in height.
“Singapore is one of the main business and commercial centres of Asia with robust demand for both business and leisure travel, and Hyatt is committed to being in the locations where we know our guests are traveling,” said David Udell, Hyatt’s group president for Asia Pacific.
“The Andaz brand is an ideal fit for the… DUO development, and this hotel will join several other exciting Andaz hotels in the pipeline in locations like Delhi, Munich and Bali.”
Expected to open in 2017, Andaz Singapore will include more than 340 rooms and suites, plus a lounge area, restaurants and bars, an outdoor rooftop venue, meeting and event space, spa services, a fitness centre, outdoor swimming pool and gift shop.
And like all Hyatts worldwide, the hotel will offer free Wi-Fi.
Hyatt markets the Andaz brand being a “boutique lifestyle hotel concept” that aims to reflect the local culture of the destination.
At present there are just 12 Andaz hotels operating globally, including two in Asia – Andaz Tokyo Toranomon Hills and Andaz Xintiandi in Shanghai. Last year, Hyatt unveiled plans to launch Asia’s first Andaz resort in Bali. This 144-room property is expected to open in 2016.
The new Andaz Singapore will join Hyatt’s existing Grand Hyatt Singapore hotel in the city.
