Hyatt has introduced a second hotel brand to Hangzhou with a new landmark development.

The new Park Hyatt Hangzhou is a luxury hotel situated on the upper floors of a 49-storey skyscraper, making it the highest hotel the city. Located in the Qianjiang New City area, on the west bank of Qiantang River, the property forms part of the 800,000m² complex which also houses offices, apartments and a six-storey shopping mall.

Taking advantage of its lofty position, Park Hyatt Hangzhou’s 242 rooms and suites are spacious, starting from 55m², have high ceilings and large windows with views of the city, river and mountains.

The large lobby area, called the “Living Room”, also features 270-degree views of the city and West Lake through five-metre-high windows, and the international restaurant on the top two levels of the hotel features a dramatic glass-bottom floor that extends out from the top of the tower. It also has a large outdoor garden terrace featuring three private dining pavilions.

Other facilities include a Cantonese restaurant, the highest swimming pool in Hangzhou, a separate “Bath House” with whirlpools, and a fitness centre. And for the MICE market there is a 650m² ballroom with a 265m² pre-function area, plus four meeting venues and residential-style function spaces that can host events of 30-100 guests.

“We are thrilled to introduce the Park Hyatt brand to Hangzhou,” said Christopher Koehler, Hyatt’s vice president & managing director of operations for China. “This opening is a testament to our commitment to meaningful and strategic growth of our brands in this region where we know our guests are travelling.”

Park Hyatt Hangzhou becomes the seventh Park Hyatt hotel in mainland China and the company’s second hotel in the capital of China’s Zhejiang province. The existing Hyatt Regency Hangzhou offers 390 rooms and overlooks the UNESCO-listed West Lake.
