Hyatt is planning a multi-property expansion in China, with a major roll-out of two new brands – Hyatt Place and Hyatt House.
China’s first Hyatt Place project will open in Shenzhen in the second quarter of 2014, and the company has now revealed that this will be followed by a further 15 new Hyatt Places, plus six new Hyatt House properties, located in key first and second tier cities.
Hyatt Place is marketed as an “upscale select service brand”, while Hyatt House is an extended stay product.
“With the introduction of the Hyatt Place and Hyatt House brands, we are bringing exciting fresh options to our guests,” said Nong Xia, senior vice president of real estate & development for Hyatt. “This will further expand Hyatt’s portfolio in this market, helping maintain healthy, strong growth for the Hyatt brands in China.”
The first new hotel to open will be the Hyatt Place Shenzhen Dongmen, marking not only the brand’s launch in China, but in the whole of Asia Pacific. And this concept is expected to grow rapidly, with plans for 15 more Hyatt Places in China in destinations including Beijing, Shanghai, Kunming, Tianjin, Sanya and Wuxi.
The Hyatt House brand meanwhile, has six properties in the pipeline in Shanghai, Shenzhen, Sanya and Wuxi.
These developments mean that by 2015, six of Hyatt’s nine brands will be represented in China.
