The International Gay & Lesbian Travel Association’s (IGLTA) Global Convention will return to Europe this year for the first time since 2010.
The convention, taking place in Madrid, will have an appointment-driven approach between buyers and suppliers for the first time, with a media trade show and consumer element to feature.
Keynote speeches will be made by the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) and the United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO), with emerging LGBT locations to be in the Unique Destinations Showcase.
There will also be educational sessions covering social media, the same-sex wedding market, LGBT travel history, trends and lesbian outreach.
“We’re incredibly excited to bring our convention to Spain – a country known for its progressive LGBT rights – and to the beautiful region of Madrid,” said IGLTA president/CEO John Tanzella. “It’s an important step forward for the association to launch an appointment-driven buyer-supplier marketplace this year. Our attendees have requested this as a way to improve upon the quality networking opportunities we already offer.”
