IHG has signed a management agreement for a new luxury hotel and residential complex in Jakarta.
Located in the west of the Indonesian capital, the new development will comprise the 200-room InterContinental Jakarta West and 150-key InterContinental Jakarta West Residences. These will form part of the 7.4-hectare, 10-tower Ciputra International Complex.
“West Jakarta is rapidly developing as a commercial hub. With two convention centres and other mega-complex developments coming up over the next few years we anticipate that the area will become a preferred destination for meetings and events in Jakarta,” said Artadinata Djangkar, director of the project’s developer, Ciputra Group.
“This is a great time for us to be developing InterContinental Jakarta West and we foresee the strategic location and strong design element of the hotel and residences to be a huge draw to people travelling to West Jakarta. We are also very pleased to be working with IHG and look forward to opening the hotel in the years to come.”
As well as the rooms and residences, the property will feature several F&B outlets, a spa, club lounge, swimming pool and fitness centre. Catering for the MICE market, InterContinental Jakarta West will also offer a ballroom, meetings spaces and a business centre.
“Indonesia has been a key growth market for IHG in recent years and the country now holds our largest pipeline in Southeast Asia. There is still much room for growth in the various cities across the country and West Jakarta, as one of the fastest growing districts in the city and the capital’s next CBD, is the ideal location to open our second InterContinental in Jakarta,” said Clarence Tan, IHG’s senior vice president of development for Asia, Middle East & Africa (AMEA).
“We are delighted to be working with PT. Ciputra Puri Trisula to launch InterContinental Jakarta West and are confident the hotel and serviced apartments will be a huge draw to guests travelling to Jakarta for both business and leisure.”
IHG currently has 13 properties in Indonesia, including InterContinental hotels in Jakarta and Bali. But the company has a strong pipeline of 29 new properties opening in Indonesia over the next five years, including four more InterContinentals.
