IHG brings new celebrity restaurant concept to Asia

IHG will launch a new restaurant concept in Asia this year, when celebrity chef Theo Randall brings his ‘Theo Mio’ Italian restaurant to the InterContinental Bangkok.

Marking Randall’s first restaurant venture outside the UK, Theo Mio will open in the second half of the year and will focus on seasonal menus created from local ingredients and Italian produce.

Randall’s relationship with IHG began in 2006 when he opened ‘Theo Randall at the InterContinental’ at the InterContinental London Park Lane. He also recently helped create the company’s new ‘Planet Trekkers’ children’s menu, which is being rolled out globally, and he sits on the hotel group’s culinary panel.

“Italian food is all about celebrating the ingredients and preparing dishes that allow diners to explore and enjoy a culinary journey in an environment that is fun and relaxed. At Theo Mio, I want to give guests the opportunity to sample some truly exciting dishes,” said Randall.

Theo Mio at the InterContinental Bangkok will feature an open-kitchen concept, allowing diners to view the culinary action. As well as main dishes and pizzas, the menus will include a range of sharing options that can be eaten at the lounge bar, which will also serve a range of Italian wines.

The introduction of Theo Mio marks the latest in a series of celebrity chef ventures in Asia. Last year, both Gordon Ramsay and Jamie Oliver introduced their restaurant concepts to the region.
