InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) has announced an agreement with Arabia Hotels to open two new properties in Giza – the Holiday Inn Giza Sun Capital and Staybridge Suites Giza Sun Capital.
At perhaps the Middle East’s biggest travel trade event, Arabian Travel Market 2018, IHG has announced the signing of two upcoming properties together with Arabia Hotels, a subsidiary of Arabia Holdings. The new development aligns with IHG’s strategy to expand its portfolio across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA).
Both are scheduled to open in 2023, and if you’re looking for a view that’s worthy of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World – the two hotels will have rooms directly overlooking the Pyramids of Giza.
Pascal Gauvin, managing director, India, Middle East & Africa, IHG, said of the signing: “We are delighted to be partnering with an esteemed developer, Arabia Hotels SAE to bring our brands Holiday Inn and Staybridge Suites to Giza. Egypt is an important market for us and we have a strong presence in the country with over 2000 rooms and robust pipeline across our brands.”

Although the brand is already popular in Cairo, the 200-room Holiday Inn Giza Sun Capital and 150-room Staybridge Suites Giza Sun Capital will be the first IHG properties in the area.
Both hotels will be part of Sun Capital, a mixed-use project that will include the largest commercial area in Egypt: a luxury commercial mall, an Egyptian Cultural themed park, an international university and an international school. Furthermore, the hotels are strategically located to cater to business, leisure and long stay travellers. It’s situated 30 minutes away from the city centre, and a 15-minute drive from the 6th October Airport.
Eng. Tarek Shoukry, chairman and CEO of Arabia Hotels commented: “We are excited to be working with a global player such as IHG and bringing their world-class brands, Holiday Inn and Staybridge Suites into our portfolio.”
