InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) has opened the first ever property under its new health and fitness-focused brand, Even Hotels.
Initially launched in 2012, Even Hotels is designed to meet the “growing demand for wellness-minded travellers to maintain their balance on the road”, according to IHG.
This will be achieved in a range of areas, including healthy food in the restaurants, rooms equipped with yoga mats and training equipment, and regular morning runs led by the GM. Rooms amenities are also designed to be less stressful, including LED mood lighting, fast and free Wi-Fi, multimedia ports and enhanced bedding and shower systems.
The inaugural Even Hotel was launched in the US city of Norwalk, Connecticut.
“Today is truly a milestone for IHG as we announce the opening of our first Even Hotels property in Norwalk,” said Kirk Kinsell, IHG’s president for the Americas. “We know that for the travelling public, the ability to maintain their health routine while on the road is becoming more and more important and Even Hotels provides the tools and encouragement to make healthier choices while on the road at an approachable price point.
“We firmly believe that the Even brand will be a key driver in market share growth in the US,” he added.
Following the launch of the Norwalk property, IHG now plans to launch four more Even Hotels this quarter; three in New York and one in Rockville, Maryland. Other key cities being targeted by IHG include Washington DC, San Francisco, Chicago, Denver, Portland, Seattle and Los Angeles.
The opening of the first Even Hotels property comes ahead of the launch of another IHG brand, Hualuxe Hotels & Resorts, which will debut in China this year.
