Intercontinental Hotels Group (IHG) has announced plans to launch its Hotel Indigo boutique brand to Tianjin.

Opening on 15 September, the Hotel Indigo Tianjin Haihe will become the brand’s third property in China, following openings in Shanghai in 2010 and Xiamen in 2012. Occupying an entire block once home to the German Consulate in the former German Concession, the hotel houses 11 individual red-brick villas in a “village-like” setting overlooking a large courtyard.

“Hotel Indigo Tianjin Haihe is something totally different for Tianjin,” said the hotel’s GM, Ringo Poon. “The hotel’s style, look and feel is not only fresh and exciting, but unique for Tianjin and China. The hotel has real distinct character, and takes at its heart, the best of Tianjin’s storied history and culture – something that Hotel Indigo represents.”

Within the villas are contained 96 guestrooms and suites in three main styles: Old Cinema, Haihe Maritime Riverfront and European Luxury. All rooms feature high-tech entertainment systems, complimentary high-speed internet access, spa-style bathrooms and artworks by local artists.

The hotel’s F&B outlets also reflect its European heritage, and including Albert’s Café, named after Albert Kissling who opened the first foreign restaurant in Tianjin, as well as Blaue Engel, a boutique beer house and eatery which opens on to the street.

Other hotel facilities include a lobby IT space with Mac computers, a library, gym, 20-metre indoor heated pool and 222m² of event space.
