Indian low-cost carrier SpiceJet will add more flights to Muscat next month.
Commencing on 13 May 2015, the airline will increase its Ahmedabad–Muscat route from three to five flights per week, amid signs that the airline’s health is improving.
SpiceJet grounded several aircraft and cancelled multiple flights last year as it struggled with its finances. But Sanjiv Kapoor, SpiceJet’s chief operating officer, said it is now planning to resume more flights, as more of its aircraft return to the air.
“India and Oman have an excellent partnership, and the passenger demand between these countries has been growing strongly,” said Kapoor.
“These additional frequencies are a part of our plans to increase our international services, and we expect to add more flights and frequencies to current and potential new international destinations in the coming months as we add more aircraft.”
Muscat is one of seven international destinations currently served by SpiceJet, along with Bangkok, Colombo, Dubai, Kabul, Kathmandu and Male.
