India drives Asian airport traffic growth

Passenger traffic at Asia Pacific’s airports increased 7% in November 2015, driven by a surge in Indian passengers.
According to the latest data from Airports Council International (ACI), the majority of Indian airports recorded double-digit growth during the month, led by Delhi (+21.9%), Mumbai (+18.3%) and Bengaluru (+24.3%). This growth can be partially attributed to the timing to the Divali holidays, which took place in October in 2014.
India’s growth offset a dip in traffic at some Chinese airports however, with Beijing (-1.6%) and Guangzhou (-1.8%) both reporting fewer passengers in November.
Shanghai Pudong Airport (+9%) continued to see strong growth, while Shenzhen (+2.6%) and Shanghai Hongqiao (+1.3%) airports also improved.
Japan’s busiest airport, Tokyo Haneda (+3.3%), also saw more passengers, while traffic at Osaka Kansai (+15.7%) surged.
