The Indian government has approved the signing of a new tourism agreement with China.
India’s Ministry of Tourism has confirmed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has rubber-stamped the new deal, which will be officially signed during the PM’s forthcoming state visit to China.
The agreement encompasses a wide range of areas, with the overall aim of expanding “bilateral cooperation in the tourism sector”.
This will cover areas including exchanges of tourism data between India and China, encouraging cooperation between hotels and tour operators, establishing exchange programmes for tourism staff, encouraging participation in travel fairs and trade shows in the two countries, and the promotion of safe and sustainable tourism.
Finally, and perhaps most significantly, the agreement will encourage bilateral investments between India and China in the tourism and hospitality sectors.
