Airports in India have been placed on high alert, following reports of a threat to hijack an Air India flight.
The Press Trust of India (PTI) reports that security has been heightened at major airports across the country, and especially at Delhi‘s Indira Gandhi International Airport, following a threat to an Air India flight from the Indian capital to Kabul.
“Security around all airports have been strengthened and we have taken all necessary measures in the wake of alert by intelligence agencies,” PTI quoted unnamed sources as saying on Sunday.
Extra measures are reported to include the deployment of more airport security personnel, and even the inspection of cabin baggage after boarding.
It is unclear where the threat against the Kabul flight originated.
