Air India has suspended two of its pilots after they started fighting in the cockpit, according to reports.
The Hindustan Times said on Monday that the co-pilot allegedly assaulted the captain as they prepared to take-off on a domestic flight from Jaipur.
However the airline has denied a physical assault took place, telling the Press Trust of India that there was only a “verbal argument” between the pair.
“There were only heated exchanges between the commander and co-pilot over some issue. We have already de-rostered the two pilots pending an enquiry,” an Air India spokesperson told the PTI.
Reports suggest that the co-pilot was annoyed by the captain ordering him to write down flight information.
Pilot behaviour, and especially that of co-pilots, has been brought into the spotlight by the recent Germanwings crash, which happened after co-pilot Andreas Lubitz locked his captain out of the cockpit.
