Indian low-cost carrier IndiGo will take delivery of its first Airbus A320neo aircraft in March 2016, it has been reported.
The airline, which is India’s largest in terms of domestic market share, confirmed recently that its first new fuel-efficient jet will arrive in the coming weeks, marking the start of a major roll-out.
“Airbus has confirmed that beginning [in] March 2016, it will deliver 24… A320neo aircraft by March of 2017,” the airline was quoted saying by the Economic Times.
IndiGo placed the largest aircraft order in Indian aviation history in 2015, when it agreed to purchase 250 A320neos worth approximately US$26 billion at list prices. These will add to the airline’s existing fleet of 101 A320 aircraft.
The A320neo is the new fuel-efficient version of the A320neo. The world’s first A320neo was delivered to Lufthansa earlier this year.
