International visitor arrivals to Indonesia continued to climb in October 2014.
According to the latest data from the country’s Central Statistics Agency (BPS), reported by the Antara news agency, Indonesia welcomed 808,767 overseas visitors during the month – 12.3% more than in October 2013. This takes the total for the first 10 months of 2014 to 7.75 million, 8.7% higher than the same period last year.
Bali’s Ngurah Rai International Airport recorded the highest increase in arrivals in October, with a 27.3% rise in visitors to 339,200. This means that more than 40% of visitors to Indonesia travelled to Bali during the month.
Year-to-date, Lombok International Airport recorded the highest growth, with a 118.8% jump. This is largely due to the fact that a new, larger airport has opened on the island.
Jakarta’s main gateway, Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, welcomed 177,274 international arrivals in October 2014, a decline of 7.4% compared to the same month in 2013.
The Indonesian government has set a target of 9.5m visitors this year.
