Indonesia’s Kal Star adds new Embraer jets

Indonesian regional airline Kal Star Aviation is expanding its fleet with the addition of two new Embraer aircraft.
Kal Star, which is based in at Pontianak‘s Supadio Airport in West Kalimantan, will operate the new Embraer E195 regional jets on domestic routes.
“We look forward to enhancing our operations, especially in the Kalimantan area, with the introduction of these E195s,” said Andi Masyhur, CEO of Kal Star. “The E195 gives us an opportunity to open new routes and provide better connectivity, frequency and passenger comfort to the people of Kalimantan.”
The E195 aircraft will be operated in a two-class configuration with approximately 120 seats.
“Indonesia’s geography presents an ideal platform for the E-Jets. Its secondary and tertiary cities spread across many islands offer opportunities for enhanced connectivity and frequency,” said Paulo Cesar Silva, president & CEO of Brazil’s Embraer Commercial Aviation.
Launched in 2007, Kal Star is short for ‘Kalimantan Star’, and offers services to multiple destinations across the Indonesian part of Borneo, plus key cities in Java including Jakarta, Surabaya and Semarang.
