InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) has signed a contract to open a hotel at The O2 in London.

The new hotel is due to open in 2015 with 452 rooms with a spa, restaurants, club lounge, bar and sky bar overlooking Canary Wharf and the River Thames.

The hotel will be operated under a franchise agreement with Meridien Hotel Operations and will be managed by Arora Hotels.

While the hotel will benefit from those visiting the entertainment venue it will also be close to those heading to the ExCel and new London Cruise Port.

“This has been a great twelve months for the InterContinental brand in London, with one fabulous new hotel opening [in Westminster] and another now signed into our pipeline,” said IHG’s chief development officer Europe Robert Shepherd.

“InterContinental London The O2 will both benefit from – and be a catalyst for – growth and prosperity in this area.  I’m looking forward to 2015 when InterContinental London The O2 will take its place alongside its sister properties as beacons of luxury in the capital,” he added.
