“Early explorers didn’t have the luxury of booking their expeditions online,” according to adventure tour provider Intrepid Travel — but modern travellers do.
From October 2020, Intrepid Travel will take guests on board the Ocean Endeavour to the coldest and oldest continent, Antarctica. Starting at GBP 3,995 the voyages are designed for an optimal experience and exclusivity, with charters offering a ratio of one expedition staff member to eight guests. The staff members on the newly refurbished Ocean Endeavour will be on hand to provide expertise on a range of topics, including marine biology, glaciology and Antarctic history throughout the journey.
Travellers can explore the White Continent on Zodiac excursions as well as photography tours and ice-camping, led by highly specialised guides. Also on board is a health and wellness centre, complete with saunas, a well-equipped gym, yoga classes, and a salt water pool.
As part of Intrepid’s ongoing commitment to responsible tourism, all Antarctica expeditions will be carbon offset, serving sustainably sourced seafood, avoiding single-use plastics and using biodegradable and phosphate-free cleaning products.
A total of 15 departures and five itineraries are available:
