Intrepid Travel and The Adventure Company (TAC) are to merge the management of their UK operations in a bid to double its UK & Ireland sales.

The combined group also plans to triple family holiday sales in the next three years, with Intrepid gaining more presence in the UK market through TAC’s distribution. Both companies, which are part of the PEAK Adventure Travel Group owned 60% by TUI and 40% by Intrepid’s co-founders, expect product to be added as a result.

Under the new structure, Claire Wilson will become managing director of TAC and UK & Ireland regional director of Intrepid, reporting to Geoff Manchester, group managing director of Intrepid. In addition, James Thornton will become Intrepid’s group commercial director in charge of global sales and product, also reporting to Manchester.

As a result, Intrepid will close its Westbury office and staff will move to TAC’s Hampshire headquarters. Intrepid said those who have not decided to move will be given a ‘fair redundancy package’.

“We are very much committed to building on the successes of both businesses in theUKmarket. The potential of bringing greater product choice toUKtravellers is very exciting to us and we are confident that we’ve got the right team in place to make this happen,” said Manchester.
