ITB Asia returned to Singapore this week, with several countries exhibiting at the event for the first time.

This year’s event, which takes place at Singapore’s Marina Bay Sands from 21-23 October 2015, will welcome almost 760 exhibitors from 73 countries. And for the first time, ITB Asia 2015 will include exhibitors from Iceland, Laos, Azerbaijan, Lithuania and Portugal.

Other countries have significantly expanded their booth space, with Egypt doubling its presence and the Philippines (+69%) and India (+50%) also enhancing their displays.

Christian Göke, CEO of Messe Berlin, organiser of ITB Asia, said this year’s event will see the “strongest US contingent” in the event’s eight-year history. He also noted the increased presence of Chinese exhibitors, “mainly from the private and technology sectors”.

In total, ITB Asia now covers 15,000m² of floor space at the Sands Expo & Convention Centre.

“Our main KPI is the amount of booth space sold,” Goke told reporters at the opening press briefing on Wednesday. “This is the best indicator of trust from exhibitors. Even more telling is the number of exhibitors coming back to [ITB Asia] after a few years away,” he added, referencing countries like Jordan and the Maldives.

This year’s 760 exhibitors will meet with almost 880 buyers for three days of face-to-face appointments.
