Jamaica’s director of tourism steps down

The Jamaica Tourist Board has announced director of tourism John Lynch will step down from the role at the end of May.
Lynch has served in the role for five and a half years and will now help search for a new director before departing in around a months’ time.
He will leave after helping the Caribbean island set a record breaking year for tourism in 2013 when Jamaica welcomed more than two million visitors.
“Serving as director of tourism has been a joy for me,” said Lynch. “I could not have asked for a more supportive team, and even as we worked through the many challenges, we knew the destination would continue to grow. It is a firm foundation on which to build with new ideas.”
Lynch will also help with the transition period when a new director has been chosen.
JTB chairman Dennis Morrison said: “John Lynch has served the organisation well. We are satisfied that he has made a significant contribution to the development of the tourism sector. We wish him every success as he moves on.”
