Japanese LCC pens major deal for new jets

Peach, the Osaka-based low-cost carrier, has decided to expand its fleet with Airbus’ newest short-haul aircraft, the A320neo.
The airline, which is owned by ANA, has placed an order for 10 A320neos and three standard A320s worth almost US$1.4 billion at list prices. These will add to the 18 A320s currently in Peach’s fleet, with two more on order. All Peach aircraft are new-builds.
The A320neos will start being delivered to the LCC in the first quarter of 2019, with the order expected to be completed within two years. The three A320s are scheduled to be delivered in 2018.
Peach currently operates to a series of destinations in Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong and Taiwan, but it is planning to spread its wings in future, including new services to mainland China, Southeast Asia and Pacific islands such as Saipan.
