Thailand’s Jet Asia Airways has ramped up its scheduled flight operations with the launch of new services to Jakarta and Jeddah.
The Bangkok-based airline, which has traditionally specialised in charter flights, will now operate four weekly flights from Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport to Jakarta’s Soekarno-Hatta Airport. Services will run every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday using a 268-seat Boeing 767-300ER aircraft.
And Jet Asia has also spread it wings to the Middle East, with the addition of two weekly flights from Bangkok to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. This route will run every Tuesday and Wednesday also using a B767.
Jacob Saba, Jet Asia’s president & CEO, said the new routes form part of the airline’s transition to a full-service carrier.
“We are delighted to launch these new scheduled services from our Bangkok hub to Jakarta and Jeddah,” said Saba. “This is an integral part of our migration to a full-service airline including improved access to Global Distribution Systems (GDS) and a proprietary online booking engine allowing passengers to purchase tickets online.”
Earlier this year, Jet Asia signed a deal with Abacus International, allowing its fares to be distributed to travel agents via the GDS.
In addition to the Jakarta and Jeddah flights, Jet Asia also operates scheduled services to Tokyo Narita Airport and a series of charter flights to cities in China and Northeast Asia.
