Etihad Airways and Jet Airways have become the main sponsors for the Mumbai Indians in the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) cricket tournament.
The announcement was made ahead of the Indians’ first match against the Kolkata Knight Riders in West Bengal on 8 April.
This marks the second consecutive year that Etihad and Jet have partnered with the Mumbai Indians, who were crowned IPL champions in 2013.
As part of the tie-up, Etihad’s logo will be placed at the top of the back of the shirts worn by the Mumbai Indians for home matches and the Jet logo will feature in the same position for away matches. Both airlines’ branding will also be placed on pitch-side LED advertising screens at Mumbai‘s Wankhede Stadium.
“The Mumbai Indians partnership is without question one of our most exciting sponsorship properties and we’re thrilled to work with the team again,” said Raj Sivakumar, Jet’s chief commercial officer.
“The brand exposure that both airlines will gain throughout the next two months of the IPL will be phenomenal and we look forward to supporting the Mumbai Indians as Rohit Sharma and his team looks to win the title for the second time.”
