Jet Airways will upgrade its Delhi-Amsterdam services next month with the introduction of a new aircraft featuring its first class cabin.

Effective 12 January 2017, the Indian airline will start to deploy its three-class Boeing 777-300ER aircraft on the route, in place of the existing Airbus A330. This 346-seat, twin-aisle aircraft is the largest in Jet’s fleet and the only model to feature all three of the airline’s cabin classes.

In total it offers eight seats in first class, 30 in business class and 308 in economy. The first class “suites” recline to form a 206cm-long bed, and feature a 23-inch (58cm) in-flight entertainment monitor, a personal wardrobe, dining space for two, a power outlet and telephone connectivity.

Following this upgrade, all of Jet’s Amsterdam flights – including services from Mumbai and onward connections to Toronto – will be operated using the three-class B777s.

“Introducing B777s on the Delhi-Amsterdam route builds on our growing partnership with KLM, Air France and Delta Air Lines in choosing Amsterdam as one of our European gateways,” said Jayaraj Shanmugam, Jet’s chief commercial officer. “Jet Airways will be able to capitalise on the surging demand in travel being witnessed between India, Europe and North America on the back of growing business confidence and the strength of these economies.

Jet is the only Indian airline that operates daily direct flights to Amsterdam, and it offers connections to 58 destinations across Europe and North America through its codeshare partnerships with KLM and Delta.

The airline added that using its largest aircraft would offer “significantly larger cargo capacity” on the route.
