Jetstar’s Dreamliner takes off to Vietnam

Australia’s Jetstar Airways has launched its first flights to Vietnam, using its new Boeing 787 Dreamliner fleet.
The inaugural service departed this week and Jetstar will now operate direct daily flights to Ho Chi Minh City – four times a week from Sydney and three times a week from Melbourne.
“Vietnam is one of the fastest-growing holiday destinations in Southeast Asia, and until now has been the largest country in the region without a low-cost direct link to Australia,” said Jetstar’s CEO for Australia & New Zealand, Dean Salter.
“There is enormous potential for Vietnam to become one of the most popular destinations for Australian travellers thanks to its wonderful year-round climate and great beaches, food and culture.
“We are already the biggest Australian carrier operating into Bali, Phuket and Hawaii – Vietnam is the next step in expanding our international network for budget conscious travellers,” he added.
From Ho Chi Minh City, Australian travellers can connect to 15 other destinations within Vietnam on Jetstar Pacific, Qantas’ part-owned Vietnamese subsidiary.
The new routes will be operated by Jetstar’s Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft, with a capacity of 335 passengers in two classes. Qantas will codeshare on the flights.
