Head of Operations and Logistics – City Sightseeing and Tours – Remote. A fantastic opportunity to join this entrepreneurial and global tour provider where you will be responsible for managing a team of around 30 through three direct reports including ticket purchasing, operations and tour guide scheduling. The role can be remotely based with some international travel once or twice a quarter.

Head of Operations and Logistics Responsibilities

• Overseeing three multi-functional teams and managers including;
  • Operations who look after everything to do with the delivery of tours excluding tickets and guides such as loading tour products and rates to the system, booking transport and ensuring the smooth delivery of tours.
  • Ticket Purchasing who are responsible for ticket inventory, working with key partners such as attractions and ensuring utilisation is optimised.
  • Guide Scheduling who are responsible for workforce planning, ensuring they have the right guides assigned to deliver each tour, resolving any staff shortage issues and ensuring tours can go ahead.
• Drive continuous improvement across all teams under your remit.
• Acting as the escalation point for any issues that arise amongst these teams.
• Track, measure and drive KPI’s.
• Ensure procedures, quality and service standards are consistently met.

Head of Operations and Logistics Skills Required

• At least 5 years experience managing, mentoring and developing a team within the travel industry.
• You will ideally have experience and understand the challenges of day tours but other tour operating and travel industry backgrounds will also be considered.
• An analytical, strategic and customer centric mindset.
• Experience of purchasing and supplier management.
• Knowledge of workforce planning.
• Able to fit in with a fast moving and agile business culture
• Experience negotiating with and managing travel and tourism suppliers
• Excellent interpersonal, communication and stakeholder management skills
