Shanghai-based Juneyao Air is planning to add 10 more Airbus A321 aircraft to its fleet this year, enabling it to launch a series of new international routes.
The new single-aisle jets, which will come equipped with 12 seats in business class and 178 in economy, will be used to launch new flights to the Japanese hubs of Sapporo, Tottori (from Shanghai), Okinawa and Osaka (from Nanjing). Juneyao is also planning to launch its first flights to the Russian city of Irkutsk.
The airline said it will also use the new aircraft to increase capacity on its existing domestic and international network, including services to Thailand.
Juneyao currently operates an all-Airbus fleet of 50 aircraft, including 38 A320s and 12 A321s. It expects to double its fleet by the end of 2020.
