Kenya launches e-Visa facility to boost its Middle East visitor numbers

In an effort to boost its tourism industry, a new e-visa service for GCC travellers is being launched by Kenya this week.

Travellers would be able to apply for entry visas in advance online via a dedicated portal at www.ecitizen.go.ke from 2 July 2015.

There is also an option to buy visa on arrival at Jomo Kenyatta international airport in Nairobi, in person at Kenya Embassies in Abu Dhabi, Riyadh, Doha and Kuwait City, and Kenya Consulates in Dubai and Jeddah, or via the online portal for a two-month transitionary period. The e-visa process will then become compulsory from 1 September 2015.

A single entry tourist visa to Kenya costs AED200 and is valid for three months. The visa allows a re-entry to Kenya from Tanzania and Uganda.
