Kerala plans to introduce Caravan tourism in the state.
The state tourism department is preparing a detail project report to submit to the Ministry of Tourism (MoT) in India for funding the development of caravan parks in five locations in the state. These locations include Thirunelli, Vagamon, Soochippara, Bekal and Ponmudi.
“Kerala Tourism is always interested in developing new products to promote the state as a top-notch destination. The seaplane project is nearing completion and we have to move on to the next viable project. Caravan Tourism is top in the agenda list, especially as the Ministry has issued a guideline regarding the service,” a source from the state department told the Times of India.
The Ministry of Tourism in 2009 had unveiled a policy for developing Caravan Tourism in India, however, only Madhya Pradesh capitalized on the idea.
