Kollam to get heli taxi service

The District Tourism Promotion Council (DTPC) in Kollam will introduce heli taxi service in the town ahead of the President’s Trophy Boat Race.
The services will be launched along with New Delhi-based Chipsan Aviation Ltd and will offer helicopter joyrides to resident tomorrow and day after. The AS-350 B3 helicopter will be based at the
Ashramam ground will carry six passengers. The civil aviation department has already approved the proposal to run the service. The service, divided into two categories of seven and twelve minutes each will cost a person INR 2,500 and INR 4,500 respectively.
DTPC secretary K Prasad told the Times of India said this first-of-its-kind initiative in the district would give a totally new experience for the people. The same company had successfully organized similar joyrides in Thiruvalla, Pathanamthitta and Piravom last month, he said.
