Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide has announced the signing of its first Le Méridien hotel in Bangladesh.
Located in a new mixed-use development close to Dhaka International Airport, Le Méridien Dhaka will offer 304 rooms with a scheduled opening in
July 2013. Spanning the eighth to 15th floor of a new tower, the hotel will include the ‘Le Méridien Hub’ social lobby concept, four food and beverage outlets, a large fitness centre and a spa. As per the Le Meridien brand concept, Le Méridien Dhaka will also feature a series of large artworks, signature scents and a collection of artistic keycards.
“We continue to look for opportunities to grow Starwood’s brands in South Asia and are delighted to announce the signing of Le Méridien Dhaka, strengthening Starwood’s footprint in Bangladesh,” said Matthew Fry, Senior Vice President of Acquisitions & Development for Starwood Asia Pacific. “As one of the fastest growing cities in the world, we saw a real opportunity to introduce a new, global upscale hotel in Dhaka.”
Le Méridien Dhaka will become the first Starwood hotel in Bangladesh, although the Sheraton Dhaka Hotel has already been signed and is scheduled to open in July 2016.
