Starwood Hotels & Resorts has penned an agreement to operate a new high-end golf resort close to Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi airport.

Set to open in June 2014, Le Méridien Suvarnabhumi Golf Resort & Spa is a low rise resort featuring 223 rooms and suites, all featuring large balconies overlooking the 18-hole, Nick Faldo-designed golf course.

Facilities at the property will include Le Méridien’s standard F&B concepts – Latest Recipe, Favola and Latitude – plus a 600m² spa, 24-hour fitness centre and an outdoor swimming pool, along with six meeting rooms and a business centre.

Starwood said it wanted the resort, which it billed as the “closest five-star resort to Bangkok’s International Airport” to become “the perfect place for meetings and city escapes”. It is also located close to Mega Bangna, one of the biggest shopping malls in Southeast Asia, and home to Thailand’s first Ikea outlet.
