Legend of the Seas arrives in Yeosu
Royal Caribbean’s Legend of the Seas called at the South Korean port of Yeosu for the first time yesterday.
The luxury liner is currently on an eight-night cruise from Yokohama, and will also visit Jeju and Shanghai.
The ship’s arrival coincided with the opening week of Yeosu Expo 2012 in the city. The ship was welcomed by around 100 people, including governmental officials, expo officials and media. Traditional plaque exchanges were conducted between the ship’s Captain Sverre Ryan and Kim Chung Seog, Mayor of Yeosu City.
Yeosu becomes Royal Caribbean’s fourth Korean port of call, following Seoul, Busan and Jeju.
“Legend of the Seas’ call at Yeosu is the highlight of this cruise. We have been specially planning for this for over a year, for our ship to arrive at the Expo right in the middle of its colorful festivities. We are pleased to be able to bring such a special big-scale international event directly to our cruise guests, on top of Yeosu’s local attractions,” said Kelvin Tan, Royal Caribbean’s Regional Director for Asia Pacific.
Legend of the Seas’ current North Asian season features a range of six- to 10-night cruise to destinations in South Korea, Japan and China, out of from Hong Kong, Shanghai, Tianjin and Yokohama.
