Royal Caribbean’s Legend of the Seas cruise liner called at the port of Muroran in Hokkaido for the first time yesterday (19 September).

The 2,000-passenger ship arrived on Wednesday morning as part of its nine-night Russia and Hokkaido cruise, which started from Yokohama on 13 September and features calls also at Busan, Vladivostok and Kushiro. Muroran is the port city of Sapporo – the largest city on the island of Hokkaido.

To mark the arrival in Muroran, a traditional plaque and key ceremony was held on the ship between Takeshi Aoyama, Mayor of Muroran, and Captain Yngvar Knutsen of the Legend of the Seas.

“We are pleased to feature Muroran as Japan’s newest port for Legend of the Seas’ North Asian cruises from Yokohama. From Muroran, our guests can tour the beautiful city of Sapporo and the famous Lake Toya nearby,” said Isao Iio, Royal Caribbean’s international representative in Japan.

The Legend of the Seas spans 11 decks and features 1,037 guest rooms, a rock-climbing wall, miniature golf course, indoor pool, spa and a range of dining and entertainment facilities.
