Lion Air has taken delivery of its 50th Next-Generation 737-900ER aircraft. The Indonesian carrier’s latest narrow-body jet features a special livery, with its tailfin marking the landmark delivery.
“This is a major milestone for Lion Air and Boeing,” said Lion Air’s President Director, Rusdi Kirana. “We’ve operated the 737-900ER since 2007 and that airplane has allowed us to grow because of the low operating cost and comfort for our passengers.”
The newest addition to Lion Air’s fleet is equipped with the new Boeing Sky Interior, which includes new LED lighting, sculpted sidewalls, and larger overhead storage bins that pivot into the ceiling.
“The success of Lion Air is truly amazing,” said Jim Albaugh, President & CEO of Boeing Commercial Airplanes. “I want to congratulate them on this special delivery and look forward to our continued partnership.”
Lion Air is the launch customer for the 737-900ER and the largest customer and operator of this aircraft in the world. The carrier currently operates a network of 488 daily flight frequencies across 71 destinations.
