Lufthansa has witnessed sustained growth for the last year from Qatar.
As per statistics, more than 70.000 passengers chose to fly to and from Germany and beyond resulting in an increase of more than 40% compared to 2011. The positive performance was also reflected in inbound passengers to Doha for either business or leisure.
Commenting on the region’s performance Carsten Schaeffer, Lufthansa vice president sales and service South East Europe, Middle East and Africa said: “Qatar has developed as one of the fastest growing markets for premium travel in the GCC. Our growth numbers in First Class are especially impressive – with volume nearly doubling in a year. The premium class travel too has been commended which means an innovative upgrade to our catering on board will be the next step.”
Concluding Peter Pollak, Lufthansa’s general manager UAE and Director Gulf said: “The fourth runway in Frankfurt, the new A pier and five premium lounges have increased our overall punctuality and will push Frankfurt forward as a soon-to-become reliable hub in Europe.”
