Madhya Pradesh gets big boost in arrivals

Madhya Pradesh has witnessed a record 620% increase in number of tourists from India in the last seven
years.
In 2005-06, the state received 7,414,375 domestic and international tourists, while in 2012-13, a record 53,413,039 visitors. “In the last seven years from 2005-06 to 2012-13, a total 620% increase in tourist arrivals was recorded in the state,” R P Chouhan, general manager for Madhya Pradesh State Tourism Development Corporation (MPSTDC) told the Times of India.
In the last two years, there has been a sharp increase in tourist arrivals, while in the current year 2013-14, a total of 6.33 crore tourists have already visited the state.
The state hosts three world heritage monuments – Bhim Baithka, Sanchi and Khajuraho.
