A new luxury hotel has opened its doors in Port Moresby, the capital of Papua New Guinea.
The Stanley Hotel & Suites rises 18 storeys in the diplomatic area of the city, close to Parliament House, government offices and several foreign embassies. It is 3km from Port Moresby’s main international airport and 6km from downtown.
The hotel’s general manager, Geoff Haigh, said the hotel is comparable with any five-star hotel in the world and would “change the Port Moresby hotel landscape forever”.
“Officially we are still in our soft opening period, but both local and international demand is already strong and interest levels are very high,” Haigh said.
The Stanley features 433 rooms, including 99 serviced apartments, plus a restaurant, executive lounge, and a 3,000m² outdoor area with a swimming pool, gym, hot tub and a spa with five treatment rooms. For the MICE market, the hotel offers more than 2,000m² of function space, including a 1,600m² ballroom – the largest in PNG.
