Malaysia’s YTL Hotels has acquired a Marriott-branded property in London.

The 74-room Threadneedles Hotel, which is part of Marriott’s Autograph Collection, is located in London’s historic financial area. Formerly the head offices of City and Midland Bank from the 1880s, the Grade-II listed building was restored and relaunched as a luxury hotel in 2002. It joined the Autograph Collection in 2013.

“We are excited to secure yet another iconic Autograph Collection property in partnership with Marriott International to further expand our hospitality footprint within the United Kingdom,” said Mark Yeoh, YTL’s executive director.

“Our relationship with Marriott International has spanned over two decades through the ownership management and future development of 10 properties across three major continents – Europe, Australia and Asia – and together we will continue to set new benchmarks for the hospitality industry for years to come.”

The Threadneedles Hotel become the fourth Autograph Collection hotel owned by YTL, following The Glasshouse in Edinburgh and The Majestic Hotel and Hotel Stripes in Kuala Lumpur.

YTL also operates other Marriott-branded hotels in Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne, KL, Koh Samui and Hokkaido.
