Maldives brings sunny side of life to over 85,000 people during virtual event
In a bid to bring the ‘Sunny Side of Life’ to tourists across the world, Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) broadcast an extended Facebook Live video event to over 85,000 total viewers on 8 June.
Titled ‘Maldives: The Sun Will Shine Again’, the four-hour video event was streamed on the Visit Maldives Facebook page from 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm BST and was hosted by MMPRC in association with the Ministry of Tourism and Public Service Media (PSM). The event aimed to convey hope to the Maldives’ travel industry partners and show international tourists that the country is preparing to welcome back visitors to the sunny side of life.
The event commenced with welcome remarks from the managing director of MMPRC, Thoyyib Mohamed, who said: “While global restrictions have forced us to press pause on our travel plans, we are just as restless to open our borders. The Maldives is working tirelessly to implement both short-term solutions and long-term recovery goals in the wake of COVID-19.”
The minister of tourism, Ali Waheed, conveyed how the Maldives is one of the best and most peaceful destinations for holidaymakers and provided viewers with the reassurance that the island nation is fully prepared to welcome back tourists.
The event concluded with the giveaway of an impressive 30-holiday prize for complimentary stays at resorts and guest houses in the Maldives, with an overwhelming 10,000 raffle entries received.
