Malindo Air has launched its first flights to Indonesia.
The Kuala Lumpur-based airline, which is a subsidiary of Indonesia’s Lion Air, commenced flights to Jakarta and Bali this week using its brand new Boeing 737-900ER aircraft, which arrived in KL earlier this week following a delivery flight from Seattle.
The Jakarta service will operate daily, leaving the Kuala Lumpur at 1125, and arriving at Jakarta’s Soekharno-Hatta International Airport at 1225. The return flight will leave the Indonesian capital at 1315, getting back into KL at 1615.
The new Bali route will also fly daily, departing KL at 0920 and arriving in Denpasar at 1225. The return flight will leave Bali at 1305, arriving back in KL at 1605.
“The response to our new Jakarta and Bali services since we started our sales has been very encouraging. We are excited about this great potential. More frequent flights between Kuala Lumpur and the two cities ensure more convenient travel for both business and leisure travellers. This further reinforces Kuala Lumpur’s position as an important Asian gateway,” said Chandran Rama Muthy, Malindo Air’s CEO.
Malindo said the flights formed part of its long-term plan to make KL a “regional transit hub”. The timings of the Jakarta and Bali flights will allow passengers to connect to its existing KL-Dhaka services.
