Mandarin Oriental has opened its first hotel in Taiwan.

The new Mandarin Oriental Taipei officially launched on 18 May 2014, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and reception attended by 250 people.

“We are delighted to introduce the brand of Mandarin Oriental to this dynamic city,” said Richard Baker, Mandarin Oriental’s executive vice president of operations for Asia. “Mandarin Oriental, Taipei is set to become a new luxury landmark for guests seeking the finest in service and facilities.”

Located on the city’s Dunhua North Road, close to the Taipei Arena, the new luxury hotel features 256 rooms and 47 suites, including a presidential suite.

F&B options include French, Italian and Chinese restaurants, plus a bar, tea lounge and cake shop. Guests will also be able to use a 20-metre indoor swimming pool, fitness centre and a large spa offering 12 treatment rooms, a yoga studio and what Mandarin Oriental calls “heat and water experiences”.

For the MICE market the Mandarin Oriental Taipei features extensive facilities, including two ballrooms, five further meeting rooms and the Chairman’s Residence, which offers event spaces, reception areas and outdoor terraces.

Mandarin Oriental Taipei becomes the company’s 14th hotel in Asia and its eighth in Greater China.
