Mandarin Oriental has signed an agreement to manage a luxury hotel in Chongqing.
The Mandarin Oriental Chongqing, which is scheduled to open in 2016, will form part of a high-end mixed-use development located in the city’s Jiangbeizui district – a new financial, commercial and business area close to the Yuzhong peninsula. The development will comprise office towers and retail outlets, as well as the hotel and other facilities.
The hotel itself will be located on the upper floors of a 248-metre tower, and will feature 231 guest rooms, including 25 suites and 18 serviced apartments. All rooms will feature views of the Yangtze and Jialing rivers and the city skyline. Facilities at the hotel will include five restaurants and bars, a spa with eight treatment rooms, a heated indoor swimming pool, club lounge and a 1,200m² ballroom.
“We look forward to introducing Mandarin Oriental’s renowned 21st century luxury with oriental charm to this important region of China. The premier location of Mandarin Oriental Chongqing underpinned by our group’s core strengths of design and architecture, holistic spas, innovative dining and legendary service will position the hotel as the most luxurious in this exciting city,” commented Edouard Ettedgui, Mandarin Oriental’s group chief executive.
Mandarin Oriental currently operates three hotels in mainland China, in Shanghai, Guangzhou and Sanya.
