Manila will welcome the Airbus A380 aircraft for the first time next week, when Emirates operates a special one-off flight to the Philippine capital.
The double-decker jet will be deployed on the Dubai-Manila route on 7 October 2014, as one of its Emirates’ three daily flights. The move is timed to celebrate the airline’s move to Terminal T3 at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA).
Flight EK334 will depart Dubai International Airport at 0920 and arrive in Manila at 2210. The return flight, EK8335, will then leave NAIA at 0115 on 8 October, arriving back in Dubai at 0540.
“The Philippines is one of our major markets and we have seen the demand for our services continuing to grow. Since we connected the two cities 24 years ago, Emirates served over 6.6 million passengers,” said Barry Brown, Emirates’ divisional senior vice president of commercial operations.
“Bringing our flagship A380 to Manila is a fantastic way to celebrate our move to the new international terminal and also our commitment to the Philippines,” he added.
The one-off A380 flight to Manila follows a similar initiative that recently saw the A380 arrive in Iran for the first time. Emirates’ largest passenger jet touched down at Tehran’s Imam Khomeini International Airport, to mark the launch of a fourth daily flight to the city.
Emirates currently operates a fleet of 53 A380s to 31 destinations.
