As the trend of working remotely continues to gain popularity, Mantra Samui Resort is leveraging its stunning views and luxury facilities with the opening of Koh Samui’s first dedicated co-working space.

Co-working spaces are definitely booming. From freelancers to major corporations, workers from all backgrounds are looking at its appeal. The flexibility it offers is its biggest draw and now Mantra Samui Resort is capitalising on this trend through the opening of Koh Samui’s first dedicated co-working space.

The new ‘Work | Lounge’ is designed for people who are looking to work while on holiday, international tourists, and locals looking for a comfy and efficient workspace to share with like-minded people.

Visitors who are not booked at the resort can choose from a half-day access for THB 300 (USD 9) or a monthly pass that costs THB 12,000 (USD 375). The air-conditioned lounge offers high-speed Wi-Fi, an access to a guest pantry stocked with a variety of drinks and snacks, a printer, an IP phone for international calls, hot desks, a blackboard, and best of all – spectacular views of the Gulf of Thailand.

“A community gathering venue for local entrepreneurs and travellers”

According to the Mantra team, their aim is to create not just a shared office but to cultivate a community.

“This is not just a place to catch up on your email,” said Niklas Wagner, general manager of Mantra Samui Resort. “We envision this as a community gathering venue for local entrepreneurs and travellers, a place for networking opportunities and small events. We see Work | Lounge as a place to facilitate connections.”

The resort’s new offering is a response to Thailand’s high demand for non-fixed work environments. In 2012, there were only four co-working spaces nationwide. Fast forward to 2018, The Bangkok Post reported last month that the market for co-working space in Thailand has increased by 25% this year.

Guests who will be staying for an extended period can also book plans that stretch from two weeks, all the way to three months. Work | Lounge is open from 9am-9pm seven days a week, and is available for both in-house guests and day visitors.
