Marriott International has opened its fifth property in China’s main beach resort destination, Sanya.
The new Sanya Marriott Hotel Dadonghai Bay is a 452-room resort located at the base of Luhuitou Mountain and overlooking the South China Sea. The hotel features two buildings and landscaped gardens set around four outdoor swimming pools.
“At Marriott International we are proud to be opening our 74th Marriott International hotel across six brands in China,” said Henry Lee, Marriott’s chief operations officer for Greater China.
“The fourth quarter of 2014 [has] been an exceptional time for Marriott in Hainan, with the opening of our first Marriott business hotel in the capital Haikou, and then this beautiful resort hotel at Dadonghai Bay in sunny Sanya.”
The resort will initially operate 292 rooms and suites, with a further 160 to be added in a separate wing in the last quarter of 2015.
Facilities at the resort will include five restaurants, a lounge bar and pastry shop, plus a 24-hour fitness centre, a spa, snooker room, table tennis room, water sports centre, plus the swimming pools and the largest indoor kids’ club in Sanya.
For the MICE market, the property will feature 1,747m² of event space including an 880-pax ballroom.
The new hotel joins two existing Marriott Hotels & Resorts properties in Sanya, plus Ritz-Carlton and Renaissance hotels.
