Malaysia Airlines (MAS) will start offering year-round direct services between Auckland and Kuala Lumpur from next year.
Effective 30 March 2014, the national carrier will operate an additional seventh seasonal weekly frequency, making the route a daily operation. The new Sunday service will depart KL at 0845, arriving in Auckland at 2245. The return flight will depart the New Zealand city at 0115 on Mondays morning, getting back into KL at 0740.
All daily flights will be operated using a Boeing 777-200 aircraft with 35 seats in business class and 247 in economy.
“The service has been well patronised and the increased frequency between Auckland and Kuala Lumpur is in line with Malaysia Airlines’ continued efforts to further strengthen its position and competitive edge across the Australia-New Zealand market,” said MAS’ regional senior vice president for Australia, New Zealand & Southwest Pacific, Lee Poh Kait.
“We have also recently increased more capacity into Sydney, Melbourne and Perth, as well as introduced Darwin as the sixth online destination in Australia,” he added.
MAS operates the KL-Auckland route on a split schedule, with morning flights every Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday and evening departures every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday.
