Melia Hotels on an expansion spree

Meliá Hotels International (MHI) recently announced signing of three new hotels in Maldives, Tanzania and Kazakhstan.
The Gran Meliá Maldives will offer a mixture of private villa and guestrooms. The Meliá Serengeti Lodge in Tanzania will be the first sustainable hotel by MHI and the Meliá Almaty in Kazakhstan will be the first hotel to be signed by Meliá Hotels International in Kazakhstan.
The Gran Meliá Maldives is scheduled to open in October 2017. The property will offer 95 private villas, including 100 rooms, as well as three restaurants, a bar and café, spa, leisure centre and retail shops.
The Meliá Serengeti Lodge is scheduled to open in June 2017. The property will feature 50 rooms consisting of 25 ‘Meliá Forest’ rooms, 23 ‘Meliá Hills’ rooms and two ‘Serengeti Suites’. The lounges and restaurants will overlook terraces around an infinity pool with pool bar and barbecue patios.

The Meliá Almaty will be a hotel specialising in corporate travel and congresses in Almaty and is scheduled to open in 2018. The hotel will feature 250 rooms, including 50 suites and junior suites. The other facilities include a restaurant, bar, lounge, spa and fitness centre, as well as meeting rooms.
Meliá Hotels International currently operates two hotels in Dubai and Qatar, and has 10 additional hotels in the pipeline in the region, all due to open between 2017 and 2020. The properties will be managed under the Meliá Hotels & Resorts, ME by Meliá, INNSIDE by Meliá and Gran Meliá brands.
